What was the old domain these articles were used on? Have you seen any traffic for this new domain from this content? I'm a little concerned without redirecting the old domain the content may not be worth that much. Thoughts?

The old domain name was swiftorchids.com. It has expired and was registered by afternic.

I guess that is a matter of option. Everyone wants something for nothing but the site has 550 articles posted and most of them are around 400 to 500 words. So if you have to go out and hire someone to write 550 post plus find photos (which are not free if you do things legally) you will pay $3 to $5 per post and that is if you hire guys who cant speak good English.

So that is $1600 to $2700 just to have the content generated. And how many hours do you think it takes to post 550 articles on a wordpress site. Plus the site it takes to design the site. To recreate this much content would cost you somewhere in the $5k range if it is paid labor.

If you do it yourself how long do you think it would take to type out 550 articles and find pics. Lets say you are can type fast by the type you do the research and type out that many articles, post them, and find pics even if each one only takes you 15 mins that is 137 labor hours and that is on the low end so it would take a month or two of full time work.

Even when you recreate the content you would still have to do SEO work so it would save a lot of time and money to just buy a site with the content already in place and then just focus on the SEO side.

So no I do not think that $550 for a buy now price is over priced at all. In fact I think it would be smarter for me to take the content and sell the articles off one by one on forums and content sites but I just dont want to fool with it.

And if Google views it as duplicate or scraped content since they've seen it on another site it doesn't matter how much the content would cost to recreate.

That would be an easy way to explain the drop in uniques since last year (which still hasn't rebounded).

There are ample sites you can use to check for duplicate content such as http://copyscape.com. If the sites content was still up on the old domain name it would be duplicated content but the content was off the other url for a very long time and was not indexed by google when the content was moved to another URL.

The site has never gotten any organic traffic as you can see in the stats above. I have done not SEO work on the site at all. The only month that the site got traffic was when I was running ads on craigslist and facebook but that traffic was direct so the reason why it dropped off is I stopped running ads.
